The best book to prepare your child for entering schoolThis is the story of Rachael, a little girl entering playschool for the first time. It focus' on how to handle missing her family. My Name Is Zoe (Golden Little Look-Look Book.)
Published in Hardcover by Goldencraft (January, 1996)
Average review score:

Adorable, adorable! My daughter loves this book. I think just about any 3, 4 or 5 year old girl can relate to Zoe. She talks about where she lives on Sesame Street, things she likes to do (play tea party, cars, ride on Big Bird's shoulders and look at books), she talks about loving to wear bracelets.
But she does NOT like to be cootchie-cootchie-cooed. The expression on her face, as she's enduring a lady cootchie-cootchie-cooing her is just hilarious. She looks just like my daughtr does when SHE'S being patronized and doesn't like it.
Zoe does explain that Elmo likes it, so you can cootchi-cootchie-coo him all you want. (Then you see Elmo, offering up his chin for just such affection!)
This book is interactive - very ingenious. This is a playful book. Original and fun, bright illustrations and sturdy binding.
Highly recommended!

My Very First Golden Bible
Published in Paperback by Golden Books Pub Co Inc (August, 1991)
Average review score:

"Mommy, how did Adam and Eve get to be best friends?"I purchased My Very First Golden Bible to commemorate my oldestson's first Easter. That was six years ago. He is in the first gradenow and is getting to be quite an enthusiastic reader. We have ourstory and prayer time every evening at bedtime and he will frequently ask to read one of the stories from My Very First Golden Bible to his brother and me. He has been asking some very good questions, such as "how did Adam and Eve get to be best friends?" You can imagine his surprise when I told him how God took one of Adam's ribs and covered it with flesh to create Eve! He also sets out My Very First Golden Bible to take to Sunday School and church every week. He will often read a story or two during the service. Personally, I think the pictures are very tasteful and depict the Biblical periods of the Old and New Testaments very well. I like the fact that it includes stories from both the Old and New Testaments, too. The stories are just the right length for young minds to absorb and are easy enough for young readers to gain a sense of self-confidence and achievement. I like what this addition to our son's growing library and reading skills has accomplished so much that now I plan to purchase a second copy for my youngest son, almost five years old. He is very excited about owning a copy of My Very First Golden Bible for himself!

The Mystery of the Golden Reindeer (Three Cousins Detective Club, 30)
Published in Paperback by Bethany House (September, 2000)
Average review score:

The T.C.D.C. is back! When the three cousins go Christmas shopping, they get more than they bargained for. First four-year-old cousin Patience shows up and starts telling crazy stories about another Titus. Then Titus gets a strange message from a boy. As they are heading out to do window shopping, they meet up with a boy who could have been Titus's twin! What is going on? Can the trio solve the mystery?
This is a fantastic book for kids. Only sixty-four pages, it took me ten minutes to read. The words are easy, the story fun and exciting and best of all for you parents, a moral is tied in.

The Neverending Story Picture Album (Golden Look-Look Books)
Published in Hardcover by Goldencraft (December, 1984)
Average review score:

A very imaginative BookThis is a book you have to read. The story is about a boy named Bastian Balthazar Bux who runs away and steals a book titled "The Neverending Story". He reads about a land, another world, named Fantastica and it is in desperate need for a human to come from earth. A thing, a 'nothing' is spreading through Fantastica and the people of Fantastica beginning to suck into it. For once you go in, you become lies or evil beings in earth and tell humans that there is no such thing as Fantastica. There is also another problem in the land, the Childlike Empress is sick and if she dies, all of Fantastica will die. A boy is sent to find out how to cure her. The boy's name is Atreyu. The book goes on to Atreyu's journey to the Swamp of Sadness, the Desert, an horrible encounter with a huge and poisonous spider, meeting a fire-dragon named Falcor and becoming friends with it, going to Uyulaya, a near death in Spook City while trying to find the border of Fantastica, and finally, going back to the Childlike Empress.
This author has lots of imagination. I like Atreyu's journey the best. I kind of get mad at Bastian sometimes when he goes into the book. But you have to read the story to know why. It is lots of fun to read the "Neverending Story"

The New Baby (Golden)

Help Preparing Your Child For A New siblingMy husband and I read many books to our son during my pregnancy. He was eighteen months old when our daughter was born and we had wanted to prepare him as best we could. This book not only helped with this process, but was enjoyable as well. Cyndy Szekeres has written a series of books about a mouse family. In this book Tiny Mouse copes with the changes in his life brought about by his sister's birth. It incorporates the frustrations of shared attention in a realistic manner. It also stresses positive aspects about becoming a big brother. Our son wanted us to read this book to him repeatedly, before and after our daughter's birth. Having read this book so often, it wasn't a total surprise when his first words after meeting our daugter in the hospital were, "Our new baby mouse!" I highly recommend this book to expecting parents with young children.

The New Complete Golden Retriever
Published in Hardcover by Hungry Minds, Inc (May, 1984)
Average review score:

If you only have one book on Goldens, this should be it!I've not seen a more complete book on the subject of Golden Retrievers. While most photographs are black and white, they show an extensive variety as to look. Mrs. Fischer's insight and discussion on Goldens is superb. Her book includes History, Genetics, An Analytical Discussion of the Breed Standard, Training, Field Trials, Tracking, Obedience, Confirmation, Care, Breeding and Raising, Golden Legends, Leaders for the Blind, Pedigrees and more. This truly is a wonderful book that I would recommend to any Golden owner. It's complete. Mrs. Fischer's love of these dogs is evident.

New Golden Dawn Ritual Tarot: Keys to the Rituals, Symbolism, Magic, and Divination (Llewellyn's New Age Tarot Series)
Published in Paperback by Llewellyn Publications (August, 1991)
Average review score:

Out of print? Whaaat? The Golden Dawn is many things to many people. It's definatly not the first esoteric order, but it is the one esoteric order that had the most impact on modern day occultism, from Aleister Crowley to wicca. The Cicero's were the ones who revived this august order back in the late seventies and they lay claim to senior adeptship in that order. They're also the authors that augmented the classic Regardie books Garden of Pomegranets and the Middle Pillar, to some purists chagrin. The book indeed is a classic, explaining in easy terms qabalistic basics like the three pillars and the four worlds, along with the twenty-two tarot paths; plus much, much, more. The art on these cards were designed for trance work and skrying, so they're excellent for use in the Cicero's supplement to Garden of Pomegranets. What stinks about the set being out-of-print is that it is a set that is so sublimly balanced and magickal. Where other decks borrow from the Rider-Waite (which is a G.D. tarot deck in secret) this blazes a path that clearly states Golden Dawn. It is also the deck o.k.'d by the late sage Israel Regardie, who is celebrated on the major arcana card the Hermit. Final thoughts: I am glad I picked this set (book, cards, and layout poster) up in time! I have a collection of Tarot cards and I say this set is King over all the related Rider-Waite look alikes.

The New Golden Dictionary
Published in Hardcover by Goldencraft (June, 1972)
Average review score:

The New Golden DictionaryI think that this book was one of the best books I had read when I was a little child. Now that I have to young children, I just found this book and I wanted to share it with my kids. This book thought me so much about the English language considering I came to America at a very young age. But I am sad that this book is out of print, I wanted to get a new copy for my kids. I hope that by this comment, the publisher will publish this book again. I showed this book to my son and he was very exited to start learning the vocabulary. I will try to find this book, but hope that other parents will want to order this book too.
